 | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow Bourdaloue c1820 These oval pots go under various names, but their purpose was singular. Today most often called a bourdaloue supposedly so named after Pere Louis Bourdaloue (1632-1704) a Jesuit preacher at the court of Louis XIV, whose long sermons left the ladies of the court in some discomfort. However, the first known bourdaloue was of Dutch delftware and made about 1710, so this explanation appears to be apocryphal. They are also known as coach pots and crinoline slippers. They were designed to offer particular convenience for ladies forced to endure long coach journies, operas as well as church services.

 | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow blue with colour Condiment Set Prestonpan c1850 These cruets are usually attributed to one of the potteries in the town of Prestonpans in Scotland, although they were made elsewhere and later versions were also produced. These chappies are originals from the 19th Century.
Each one has restoration of some sort although not instantly noticeable, and one of the hats and a couple of stands are incomplete! They are wonderful characters and although they have had a life they look great on display.

 | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow blue with colour Jar 'Vinegar Prestonpan c1850 One part of a condiment set, usually attributed to one of the potteries at Prestonpan in Scotland, but also produced elsewhere and later versions were made. This chappie is an original from the 19th Century and he has had a life!
He has a removable hat, which has been in three bits and restuck, with a couple of minor losses where the parts join. Two small areas at the bottom of the hat are missing, but these are largely invisible when it is place. Two small chips to the rim of his head, at the rear. Some minor flaking to the paint on his jacket and shoes. The base has been in four or fives bits and restuck. There is a chip in the left hand side of the skirt of the base visible in the photograph and a large area missing from the skirt at the back, about 1 ½” x ¾”, and a chip to the bottom rim.
Sitting on the right height shelf he could look almost perfect!

This chappie is an original from the 19th Century and he has had a life!
He has a removable hat, which has been in two bits and restuck. About 1/3 is missing and this affects the back as well as part of the crown of the hat, visible in the photograph. Two chips to the rim of the hat. The man himself is remarkably unscathed, with only a hairline running down from his head to the left of his face and some tiny nicks to the foot rim of the skirt to his base. | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow blue with colour Cruet Part Set c1860 Two of the original four pieces of this set. These fellows are the oil and open salt or perhaps mustard. They are such characters! The oil would originally have had a "hat". There is a little wear around the top rim and some wear to the toes of his shoes and his waistcoat! The salt or mustard (if it was the latter then he too would originally have had a hat), has wear to his shoes and waistcoat and also two chips and some nibbles to the top rim, and a small chip to the rim of the stand. The border pattern of Willow is to their hats and around their stands. Dimensions: 14 cm high / 5.5 ins high

 | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow blue with colour Cruet Part Set c1910 Two of the four pieces, which would originally have made the set. Sometimes known as Prestonpans, these fellows are the pepper and open salt or perhaps mustard. both have some crazing. The pepper has a under rim chip to the stand. The salt or mustard (if the latter originally he would have had a hat)has two small rim chips both of which have been glazed over so presumably occured during manufacture. The colour has flaked off his jacket in a couple of areas - nothing major! Dimensions: 13.5 cm high / 5.25 ins high

 | Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Willow blue with colour Toby Jug c1920s Whilst in the style of early 19th century originals this toby jug appears to date from the early 20th century and is a well executed copy of the original. His jacket is decorated in traditional Willow pattern. At some time in his life he would have held 1 pint of ale, now a superb decoration piece.
Crazed and inside there is a little minor discolouration and a firing fault around the edge, overall lovely! Dimensions: 14 cm high / 5.75 ins high
