Large oval dish with flower motifs around the outside and full pattern inside. It is crazed and has some areas of light staining. Inside to the base it has had a small "ding" possibly in manufacture and also a small area of rough glaze, neither terribly disfiguring but it is our policy to try to mention everything!

The smaller less often seen small pie dish. This one has probably seen many pies in its life as it is crazed and has a fair amount of staining particularly inside. It has had a small knock to the rim which has resulted in a small hairline and there is another very small hairline also to the rim. Sounds awful but this is an unusual piece and still has an attractive quality about it.

Bowl with Foot c1880
It is difficult to decide whether this is a large fruit bowl centrepiece or small punch bowl. We have never seen another one like it. Well made and printed, with moulded side handles. There is some brown speckling to the glaze, mainly around the handles, which you sometimes get with age, but nothing major as overall it is bright and clean. There is a modest rim chip that has been restored in the past. The restoration has yellowed and could easily be replaced with a modern restoration, which would be almost invisible. No maker's backstamp.

A lovely round domed cover with ornated moulded detail at the handle joins.

A delightful footed comport with lid. This is probably a marriage but they work well together. Lovely moulded detail to the side handles of the comport and around the handle join on the lid.
Backstamp: BB.
There is a little minor discolouration to the stilt marks both inside and underneath and also underneath a manufacturing blemish. The lid has a little wear to the rim and just a touch to the handle otherwise excellent condition. Overall a really lovely set.

A grand round comport, with plain splay foot, and two pierced and moulded side handles. The tall domed cover has moulded detail and loop handle.
The glaze is finely crazed on both pieces, with just a little light staining inside the comport. This item is in superb condition. No maker's backstamp.

Wine Cooler c1880
This is either a small wine cooler - in the style of the silver ones, or a large centrepiece bowl for fruit etc. Whatever its original use it is a stunning piece! Standing on a round moulded foot the body is gently moulded rising to a wavy flared rim. Beautifully patterned around the outside with wide floral border to the inside rim and pheasant pattern inside to the base. It has light all over crazing which has absorbed some stain mainly on the inside and apart from a few other minor signs of age is absolutely lovely. No makers marks.

This is a delightful set complete with stand, ladle and cover. The stand has light crazing with some associated staining. The tureen also has light crazing with some staining mainly to the foot and inside the tureen. The ladle has border pattern around the bowl and along the stem. It has two tiny firing faults in the bowl and a little discolouration to part of the rim and just a hint to the stem. The cover also has light crazing. As usual on paper this sounds far worse than it is. It is actually a really lovely set.

Lovely set complete with stand, cover and ladle. This is a marriage but all of the pieces work quite well together. The stand has light crazing with a little staining here and there and some minor signs of age. The tureen is gorgeous and printed in a lovely soft blue. The ladle too is lovely with full decoration inside the bowl and along the stem. It has a little minor light crazing with some light staining at the base of the stem otherwise fine. The cover is excellent. All in all a really lovely set.

Soup Tureen c1870
It is difficult to find a soup tureen complete with stand and ladle. The elegant proportions of this set, ensure that it looks outstanding on display.
The set has been together for at least 25 years, but we believe it to have been assembled at some point in the past, although everything fits well and it remains a distinguished and rare ensemble.
The round stand has pierced and moulded side handles. The glaze is crazed with a little light staining. Blue printed backstamp of crown and harp shield, with Asiatic Pheasants, R Hammersley beneath, for Ralph Hammersley of Tunstall 1860 to 1883.
The round tureen has two faux wood side handles and stands on a generous decorated splay foot. Each handle has a chip underneath. One occurred during manufacture and was glazed over. The glaze is sound and this is a really bright and clean piece. Blue printed Asiatic Pheasants cartouche, but no maker's name.
The round cover has a faux wood loop handle and a cut-out for the ladle. There has been a knock to the cut-out, causing a hairline crack and minor loss of glaze and another minor knock to the rim. The glaze is sound with a few lines of craze on the rim, but it as bright as the tureen.
The ladle is decorated down the handle and round the rim of the bowl. The glaze is finely crazed and there is short discrete hairline to the rim, otherwise good condition.
The ultimate addition to any collection or majestic statement piece.

The tureen is a slightly softer print than the lid and stand, so this is possibly a marriage. This now sounds awful but in reality is lovely!

Delightful little sauce tureen. The pretty stand has some crazing, a little minor staining around the stilt marks and a small hairline to the rim, noticeable only from the back. The tureen has a some wear to the handles, and a little light crazing but from the outside looks fine. Inside however it has some staining and several firing cracks which do NOT show through to the outside. The cover has a little minor crazing and also a firing crack inside which does NOT show through. Sounds awful but the faults mentioned do not detract from the appearance of this delightful piece.

Sauce Tureen c1880s
This is a delight! Lovely tureen with stand, cover and ladle and all printed in a soft blue. The stand has pretty moulded side handles. It has some crazing and a little light staining. The tureen stands on four small feet and apart from a little wear around the rim and just a touch to the handles is absolutely fine. The ladle has the border pattern around the inside of the bowl, (this is quite smudged), and floral pattern to the stem. The end of the stem also has pretty embossed decoration. Apart from the smudging the ladle is in superb condition. The cover is slighly softer in print than the other pieces. It has just a little stain to the rim otherwise excellent. A gorgeous set.

Soup Tureen Stand c1880
Although these stands started out life as a base plate for a soup tureen they make lovely pieces in their own right. This one has a wavy rim and two decorative moulded side handles and is printed in a light slightly steely blue. There are a few minor signs of wear mainly to the rim and the handles otherwise in excellent condition. Blue printed backstamp P C & Co, but we have as yet been unable to identify them.

This is a lovely style of sauce boat resembling more the shape of a jug. Printed in a slightly steely blue it is quite heavily potted and inside is slightly crudely done. It is however well decorated and has a lovely spur to the handle and embossed decoration around the handle join. It is lightly crazed and has some light staining. There are also some minor stress cracks to the foot. All sounds pretty awful but this is an attractve piece. Provenance: F G Allen collection No 288 (original label still on the base)
