| Maker: Woods Pattern:Manchu blue with colour Teapot Cosy shape c1930 A rare shape of teapot made by Wood & Sons to a patented design registered by Abram Allware Ltd and decorated with Woods traditional Manchu pattern of a Chinese stork in oriental "landscape". Abram Allware obtained patents for their teapots in 1922-25 and the Cosy name was also a registered trade mark. Apart from the shape of the pot, the novel features appear to be the fixing of the lid on the pot and the design of the gate, which is integral to the lid.
Blue printed design with hand painted colour in yellow, green and rust.
Basically good condition, but has been used with hot tea, the glaze is crazed and has taken up some light staining here and there. If you like pristine condition this pot is not for you, but if you like the patina of age it's perfect.
Black printed Bursley Ware (a Woods trade name) and England and blue printed Manchu.
Dimensions: 0.6 ltr 18 cm / 1 pint 7 ins overall height
