There is some wear and discolouration around the rim and on the back of the plate, the face however is in excellent condition.

Plate Nancy Hart c1950
Lovely plate with the floral and fruit border inset with historic vignettes.
Backstamp: Nancy Hart capturing the Tories. When a band of Tories visited Nancy they were so intent upon their dinner that their removed guns escaped notice. Until suddenly every Tory sprang up. As one stepped forward she seized a musket. Fired. And he fell dead. She aimed again. Each now feared to move. Her husband arrived and they were captured. Crazed with a little discolouration, some wear to the outer rim and on the back a firing fault.

In 1781, Washington, Rochambeau and others held council in regard to the siege of Yorktown which resulted in ending the Revolutionary War. Made in England for Connecticut Society Colonial Dames. Printed and impressed Wedgwood marks and impressed date for 1929 and also bears the importers stamp Jones, McDuffy and Stratton Boston.
