Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Royal Cottage
Meat Dish or Platter c1840
The Royal Cottage depicted is Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park, which was home to the late HRH The Queen Mother, set here in a rather more romantic and fanciful landscape. A fuller history of this design is available on request. This delightful large platter has fine crazing to the glaze, with some light staining here and there, and a few tiny glaze defects. The rim has some rubbing and wear. Looks a lot better than it sounds and is fine on display. Blue printed backstamp cartouche with Royal Cottage in shield and impressed anchor, which suggests the maker was Fell & Co of St Peter's Pottery, North Shore, Tyneside, although they are not previously recorded making this design.
