Dish c1825
A lovely shape of dish with pattern on the inside only. Neptune and Amphitrite (or possibly Brittania) ride in a chariot with paddle wheels drawn by hippocampi and Putti blow a horn and ride a hippocampus. The border is decorated with medallions containing the busts of heroes and are flanked by nereids and symbols including cannon, sailing ships, anchors, flags, swords, and shield No backstamp. There is a little surface scratching and loss of glaze to the stilt marks and just a little very minor wear to the rim, overall excellent condition and a most unusual dish.

Dessert Dish c1820
An unusual design depicting Neptune and Amphitrite or possibly Britannia riding in a chariot with paddle wheels drawn by hippocampi and preceded by a triton. Putti blow a horn and ride a hippocampus. The border comprises medallions containing the busts of heroes: probably Nelson, Collingridge, Howe, Hood and/or Jervis and they are flanked by nereids and symbols including cannon, sailing ships, anchors, flags, swords, and shields. A version has been seen with the title Trafalgar, which suggests this was a commemorative design. It has also been titled The Apotheosis of Nelson and Victory, but is more commonly known as Neptune. No maker's backstamp.
Dimensions: 27 x 19 cm 4.5 cm high / 10.5 x 7.5 ins 1.75 ins high

Supper Set Segment Dish Cover c1820
This pattern shows Neptune riding across the waves in a chariot with Britannia. It has also been called the Victory pattern and The Apotheosis of Nelson, implying the deification of Nelson or his soul leaving this earthly life. S B Williams suggested that the four heads in medallions in the border pattern represented famous Admirals, such as Nelson, Howe, Hood and Collingwood. A decorative item, in excellent condition with just a tiny knock to one point. Bright and clean. No maker's mark, but large impressed 3 in the underside.
Dimensions: 28 x 18 cm / 11 x 7 ins
