Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Near Currah on the River Ganges
Mug c1820
The scene on this mug was inspired by an aquatint in Oriental Scenery (Part 1, 21) by Thomas Daniell published in 1796. Currah is also spelt Kara. This pattern is recorded made by Leeds Pottery and another version is attributed to Rogers. However, the engraving on this mug has significant differences and appears to be by a third unidentified maker. The scene on this mug is topped by an attractive floral border and there is floral detailing on the handle. No backstamp. Light all over crazing with some discolouration inside, around the foot and to the handle. There is a very small chip to the inside rim and two small chips and a little wear to the foot. None of these is especially noticeable and overall this is a beautiful mug.
Dimensions: 10 cm diameter 11 cm high / 4 ins diameter 4.25 ins high
