Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Soup Ladle c1830
One is inclined to attribute all Italian pattern items to Spode, but this ladle is more likely to be by Wood & Challinor, who happily copied Spode's design, but in a rather paler blue. The glaze is crazed, but otherwise in excellent condition. Lovely piece, especially if you have the soup tureen for it! No makers backstamp.
Dimensions: 27 cm long / 10.5 ins long
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Sauce Ladle c1825
This is a delight even though it does show a few signs of its 180 year existence! Pattern inside the bowl and along the lovely stem which also has embossed decoration. The outside of the bowl has some wear and also the stem - although this is mainly on the under side and to the tip of the top. Overall a delightful piece. No makers backstamp.
Dimensions: Bowl diameter 6.5 cm, overall length 19 cm / Bowl diameter 2.5 ins, overall length 7.5 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Soup Ladle c1850
Wonderful large ladle with pattern inside the bowl and along the stem. No backstamp. Light crazing with a little wear and small hairline to the rim of the bowl. Inside the bowl there is a tiny piece of grit in the glaze and to the tip of the stem and underneath a little discolouration.
Dimensions: Bowl diameter 9.5 cm, overall length 30.5 cm / Bowl diameter 3.75 ins, overall length 12 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Loving Cup c1825
This is an absolutely fabulous very large loving cup. No backstamp. There is some wear and loss of glaze to the handles and a little minor wear to the top and inside rim. There is a possible hairline underneath but it does not go through to the inside.
Dimensions: 17 cm high, 13.5 cm diameter / 6.75 ins high, 5.25 ins diameter
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Plate c1830
Italian is always associated with Spode, but several other makers copied it and this plate is printed in quite a dark shade of blue. No backstamp. Crazed with surface scratching, a very small rub to the rim and the occasional minor blemish.
Dimensions: 25.5 cm / 10 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Plate c1840
Printed in quite a pale blue. No backstamp. Crazed with discolouration although this is mainly on the back.
Dimensions: 26 cm / 10.25 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Soup Plate c1825
Blue Italian pattern is most often associated with Spode, for whom it became the most popular pattern of all time. Several other makers produced their own versions of Italian generally following closely the Spode original. This is one such version printed in a fairly pale blue. No maker's backstamp, only impressed starburst. The glaze is crazed and some staining mainly on the back.
Dimensions: 25 cm / 10 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Soup Plate c1825
Several potters copied Spode's famous Italian pattern. This piece has no maker's mark so is unattributed. The glaze is crazed and there is a chip to the rim at 3 o'clock. Otherwise bright and clean.
Dimensions: 25 cm / 9.75 ins
Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Italian
Pickle Dish c1825
Italian is a pattern usually associated with Spode, but it was copied by several other makers and this pickle dish is by one of the other makers. The potting of this dish is quite chunky, the print quality is not great and there is some surplus blue. If you like quirky pieces then this is for you. No maker's backstamp. The glaze is finely crazed, but otherwise in remarkably good condition.
Dimensions: 14 x 10.5 cm / 5.5 x 4 ins

Knife Rests Pair c1825
These knife rests are large carver's rests and are decorated with the border design from Spode's well known Italian pattern, although these rests are not by Spode, but one of their competitors, who copied the pattern. We have not hazarded a guess as to which one. No maker's backstamp. Some wear as is usual and the glaze is crazed on both. The corners on one are rubbed, as is one of the risers. The other rest has rubbed corners and one corner has a small chip. Underneath are four minor chips, which are not seen, when the rest is set down. So overall they look good on display and are a lovely pair of rests.
Dimensions: 10 x 4 cm / 4 x 1.5 ins
