| Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Etruscan and Greek Vases Series Meat Dish or Platter Coughton Court c1830 An intriguing series of views, printed in pale blue tones, with a classical urn or vase to the left and hollyhocks to right, framing a historic castle or stately home. Here the scene is of Coughton Court near Alcester in Warwickshire, which is the ancestral home of the Throckmorton family. Renowned for their Catholic recusancy, one of their number Elizabeth Throckmorton was the last Abbess of Denney Abbey, Cambridgeshire and after the Dissolution of the Monasteries lived out her days at Coughton.
This platter is in superb condition. There are a few signs of use, but it is almost as new.
