| Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern:Bridge Butter Dish with Cover c1815 Bridge is a willow pattern style design with one person on the bridge and another about to get on. It was made by several makers including Minton and Spode and was introduced about 1808. Later at Spode it was also known as Queen Charlotte pattern.
There are no maker's backstamps to this butter dish and we have not attributed a maker, but it is beautiful pearl ware and clearly from a quality potter.
There is just a chance that the dish itself was an early replacement to match the cover and base, but if so they have been together for nearly 200 years!
Generally a few signs of use and age. The glaze to the stand is crazed. There is a tiny flake off the rim of the dish and minor chips and frits to the inside rim of the cover. Otherwise a gorgeous display item, bright and clean, and an extremely rare survivor from a much earlier age. Stand 5.875 ins 15 cm diameter. Dimensions: Dish 12 cm diameter 12 cm overall height / Dish 4.75 ins diameter 4.75 ins overall height
