Maker: Stevenson  Pattern:Netley Abbey
Plate c1820
Netley Abbey is near Fareham in Hampshire and this View towards the East from the Transept was inspired by an engraving in The Beauties of England and Wales published 1805. Netley Abbey is included in Masons Beaded Frame Mark Series and Andrew Stevenson produced an almost identical version of this scene. This is not the Masons version, which has no birds at the top, so it is attributed to Andrew Stevenson, unless there was a third as yet unknown maker of this pattern. Backstamp: There is no maker's backstamp or mark. Finely crazing and whilst the face is bright, the back has light staining.
Dimensions: 25.5 cm / 10 ins
