Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1810
The earliest of the Spode Trophies patterns, this version is more fully known as Trophies Nankin and sometimes Hundred Antiques. Chinese Trophies were originally the trophies of war, but later were used to describe symbols of the arts and literature, which is what is depicted here. This pattern was introduced about 1800 and this platter is an early example. It is an unusual dish in that the runnels are a simple cross and there is a well at each end, offering uniformity and balance that is lacking in a single well version.
The backstamp is SPODE impressed and a blue workman's mark of two parallel lines with another slashed across in the form of a rudimentary cross.
There are some glazing blemishes occuring in manufacture, pitting and gritting, but nothing major. The glaze is sound and has that lovely pearly cobalt sheen to it. The two feet have been succesfully drilled at some stage so this platter may be easily hung on the wall.

Sadly lacking its cover. Trophies or Fitzhugh design, without the central panel and with Temple Landscape border. A little scratching to the inside but otherwise in good condition with pretty side handles. It has the Copeland Spode green printed backstamp as well as the printed mark of the retailer which is Mortlock's of Oxford Street. There is also an impressed date mark. Stand measures 5.5ins x 7.5 ins.

Bone china with gilt rim. This pattern is more fully entitled Trophies Marble and it is only known on the gadroon shape. The border is Marble or Mosaic pattern, more often called Prunus and Cracked Ice these days, and the centre is Trophies Etruscan pattern.

Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC 644. Both cup and saucer have the printed retailers mark of James Green and Nephew of London. Saucer has impressed date for 1900.

It has some discolouration around the rim, on the side and underneath but the face is clean and bright.

Bone china with gilt. A most unusual tapering cylindrical vase with three handles.

The body of the vase is in excellent condition however the handles have a little wear to the gilt, a touch of crazing and one has two hairlines.
