Sauce Tureen c1820
There is something about a sauce tureen approaching its 200th birthday that almost defies description - the attention to detail on the central and side handles is just one element, however this one has seen some active service! It comes complete with stand and cover. The small oval stand is crazed and has absorbed some light staining. It has a couple of tiny under rim nicks otherwise is fine. The tureen is also crazed and again with some light staining although that is noticeable mainly from inside. There is a small star crack to the side and a little wear to the handles. Crazing and light staining again to the cover with some "nibbles" to the inside rim. Inspite of everthing it is still lovely and bright and a delightful display piece. All pieces bear the blue printed Spode mark in a rectangle.
