Soap Dish c1910
A most attractive three part soap dish. The urn shaped base stands on a stem and flat foot and has two side handles. Siting on the rim and within the base is a drainer with holes and the ensemble is topped off with a dome shaped lid with loop handle. The floral pattern is printed in blue and enhanced with hand painted enamel colours. The design is applied copiously to all three pieces and even the drainer is well decorated. The glaze is lightly crazed and there is a small area of professional restoration to the rim of the lid, otherwise in excellent condition. Made during the Copeland period there is a blue printed backstamp of Copeland late Spode with the "grid-iron" and another for the London retailers Heal & Son with their trade mark four poster bed plus London W. In script is the pattern number T627, which is from the special toilet ware design series and would date from about 1908 to 1910. A charming decorative piece of some rarity.
