Maker: Spode  Pattern:Number 790 colour
Jug or Pitcher Mask c1880
An absolutely fabulous jug with the spout formed as the face of a bearded man. There is no maker's backstamp, but we have attributed this to Copeland Spode as because as a jug shape this appears to be unique to them. The pattern number 790 was introduced in 1806, but we believe this jug to be a much later example. Backstamp: In script 790. to the handle there is some wear and discolouration and inside a vertical firing fault. Elsewhere there are signs of wear with a little discolouration to the foot. Sounds much worse than it actually looks, this is a super piece.
Dimensions: 1.2 ltr, 18.5 cm high / 2 pint, 7.25 ins high
