Maker: Spode  Pattern:Girl at Well
Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1825
Spode are usually given the credit for introducing this design in 1823 and it was copied by at least five other makers. The original name seems to have been The Font or simply Font, rather than the name by which we now know it. This large turkey or goose platter was made by Spode between 1823 and 1833 and has both blue printed and impressed SPODE back stamps. This platter has runnels and well for the juices and stands on raised feet, one of which has a chip. There is a little crazing to the glaze, the occasional glaze blemish and a short hairline on the bottom rim, but overall you would struggle to find a better example of this charming design
