This is a fabulous jug in the Eglinton Tournament series. The Eglinton Tournament of 1839 was a re-enactment of a medieval joust and revel held at Eglinton Castle, Ayrshire, Scotland. It was organised by the 13th Earl Eglinton as a reaction to the omission of much traditional medieval pageantry from the Coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838.
Backstamp: Royal Doulton England Rd NO 408787 and in script D1925 and Eglington Tournament printed inside the spout.
Excellent condition.

It has a tiny nick to the foot and a little very minor discolouration inside to the base otherwise excellent condition.

This jug has a tiny tiny rub to the rim otherwise excellent condition. Eglinton Tournament is printed inside the spout and the first four letters of Tournament are indistinct.

A little minor discolouration underneath otherwise excellent condition.

On the face of the plate it is stated as the Eglington Tournament (with an extra G).
Backstamp: Royal Doulton England and impressed date for 1931.
