| Maker: Rogers Pattern:Vine Warming Dish c1835 Made by John Rogers & Son of Dale Hall, Longport, Staffordshire, active 1814-36. This is quite the prettiest warming plate we have ever seen. There is a small classical scene in the centre, within a broad border of vines and flowers all printed in lucious shades of blue from dark to quite light. The shape with its multi-indented rim and moulding has a lightness and subtly, which is often lacking with these everyday items.
On the rim at about 8 0'clock there is a small area of restoration, which appears to have been done some while ago and has been done well. The glaze is finely crazed, but overall it is bright and clean. A fine decorative piece from the famous Rogers pottery.
Maker's backstamp is an elaborate blue printed cartouche of a vine containing the pattern name, but the typical impressed Rogers is not present. Dimensions: 26 cm / 10.25 ins
