Stunning dish with tree and well feature made by John Rogers and Son of Dale Hall, Longport, Staffordshire active 1815 to 1841. The scene depicts the Gate leading to a Musjed at Chunar Ghur and is based on an engraving in Oriental Scenery by Thomas Daniell published in 1797. Chunar or Chunarghur is a town and ancient fortress in the district of Mirzapur in the United Provinces of India, situated on the south bank of the River Ganges.

Light all over crazing with discolouration around the outer rim and on the back. Also on the back to the foot is a small old chip, a small manufacturing chip which has been glazed over and a very small loss of glaze to another area. There is also a little loss of glaze and discolouration to the stilt marks. All very minor and a fabulous dish in good condition.
