John & William Ridgway of Cauldon Place and Bell Works, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire active 1814-1830. Beautiful floral design, incorporating a large butterfly and printed on a large hexagonal platter with a white gadroon rim. Blue printed backstamp shield with foliage, containing Windsor Festoon, Opaque China, J&WR, plus blue printed 5 and impressed heart shape. Some utensil marks and scratching to the face, but the glaze is sound and this is a magnificent platter.
