Maker: Ridgway  Pattern:Vesper colour
Meat Dish or Platter c1860s
This is an absolutely stunning dish with rich cobalt blue complimented by the colourful floral decoration. The pattern is generically Indian Tree, but this version is often found with the pattern name Vesper printed on the back. Ridgway is immediately a maker that springs to mind and it is usually attributed to them, although marked examples do not appear to have been recorded. Backstamp: In script 2/2737 and impressed 68 as date code for 1868? A little minor surface scratching, a little loss of glaze to the stilt marks and a touch of wear to the rim overall excellent condition.
