Sauce Tureen & Stand Trinity Cambridge c1825
A beautiful small tureen and stand from the extensive and famous series by John & William Ridgway, depicting many of the colleges and buildings in the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Noted for the superb quality of the design and printing, each scene is framed by a striking border with medallions containing a goat and cherubs, here set off by bold cobalt blue side handles and finial to the cover. Great Court Trinity, Cambridge on the base, North Front of Merton, Oxford on the cover and Christ Church, Oxford on the stand.

Light all over crazing with some discolouration although this is mainly to the rim and inside the tureen and on the back of the stand. The stand also has a small hairline to the rim and the cover a little wear to the inner rim. Overall a superb set.

Soup Tureen Caius College Cambridge c1825
A magnificent large tureen from the extensive and famous series by John & William Ridgway, depicting many of the colleges and buildings in the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Noted for the superb quality of the design and printing, each scene is framed by a striking border with medallions containing a goat and cherubs, here set off by bold cobalt blue side handles and finial to the cover. The base depicts Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge and the cover Magdalen Tower & Bridge, Oxford.

The tureen is crazed with light discolouration, mainly inside to the base and underneath, and also a hairline of approximately 1¼” to the rim. Underneath the cover is some signs of wear and a hairline parallel to the rim which has been stabilised and does not go through to the top. There is also another hairline affecting the rim and ladle cut out, part of which has lost some glaze and a little body. Also to the ladle cut out is a tiny amateur restoration and a little pitting. Nevertheless, this is a stunning piece.
