| Maker: Read Clementson and Anderson Pattern:Wild Rose Plate c1836 Made by Read, Clementson & Anderson of High Street, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, who appear to have been in business for only one year - 1836. The scene depicts Nuneham Courtenay, Oxfordshire, the seat of the Earl Harcourt, set in grounds laid out by Capability Brown around 1780. This is a popular pattern and often found without a backstamp, but here from a named maker.
Blue printed circular floral cartouche and in the centre Improv'd Wild Rose R. C. & A.
The print has some tiny spots of blue from the printing process, but lovely clean face. At 7 o'clock on the rim there is a tiny chip where it has been knocked and a hairline runs in for about 0.5ins 1.5cm. Otherwise lovely condition. Dimensions: 27 cm / 10.5 ins
