Maker: Pountney  Pattern:Hexagonal Dome
Plate c1825
This pattern is an interesting mix of classical temple or mausoleum, with its hexagonal dome, in the background and people and fencing that have an oriental look to them in the foreground. It is found rarely and the name is a given one by the Transferware Collectors Club database. We have attributed this plate to Pountey and Allies of Bristol active 1816 to 1835, but this is purely based on the impressed P backstamp. Fine crazing with a little discolouration on the back. There is a piece of grit in the glaze at 11 o'clock in the tree and a couple of other very small blemishes. On the inner rim at 4 o'clock there is a mark, where this plate has touched another in the kiln.
Dimensions: 24.5 cm / 9.75 ins
