Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1840
By George Phillips of Longport, Staffordshire, active 1834 to 1848. Park Scenery pattern is a series of views, usually including cows set in a romantic English country parkland setting. This large platter has a tree and well for the juices to gather and is printed in green. This design was also produced in blue. The glaze is finely crazed and the craze lines have taken up slight staining, but overall still bright and looks good on display. There is a small rim chip at 4 o'clock on the face and on the back the bottom of the gravy well is chipped and flaked. No maker's backstamp.
