Sugar Bowl c1840
This fabulous urn shaped sugar bowl, with two lion mask side handles, sadly lacks its cover. It is attributed to Patterson & Co of Gateshead, Tyneside. The design has been noted on tea wares and marked examples are recorded with a blue printed oval cartouche, including the maker's name. This bowl is unmarked. An aptly named design as it depicts inebriated cherubs picking and eating grapes.
No backstamp.
Overall in good condition, the glaze is crazed and has taken up some light staining, mainly inside and to the foot. There is a small area of amateur restoration on the rim above one of the side handles.
See True Blue Case 6/2 for a similar bowl exhibited at the Friends of Blue Exhibition at the Wedgwood Museum in 1998.
This is a rare survivor from one of the lesser known potteries in the North-East.

Teabowl c1830
Gorgeous little teabowl from this Tyneside potter.
No backstamp.
There is a tiny chip to the rim and another tiny chip to the foot. Also to the foot a manufacturing chip which has been glazed over.

Cup and Saucer c1830
Absolutely gorgeous, finely potted, cup and saucer.
Backstamp: Patterson & Co.
Underneath the saucer there is a tiny tiny chip to the foot otherwise superb condition. The cup has two small areas of restoration to the rim and a hairline of approximately 1.25" running down from the rim. There are also a couple of small nicks to the rim, making this sound far worse than it looks. On display it is an absolute delight.
