| Maker: Minton Pattern:Venetian Jug or Pitcher c1830s Made during the Minton and Boyle partnership 1836 to 1841 this good sized jug or pitcher is decorated in pale to mid blue with the Venetian pattern. Why Venetian is unclear as it is actually an attractive European country scene, probably not England, but could be Holland, Germany or France etc.
To cover the main body of the jug they applied six transfers of the scene and there is an pretty geometric border design decorating the neck rim, both inside and out.
There are some minor signs of use and age inside the jug, but externally it is in immaculate condition.
Blue printed backstamp of floral cartouche containing the pattern name Venetian, the initials M&B for Minton and Boyle and No 4, which is presumably a pattern number.
A beautiful decorative piece, which is bound to attract admiring and appreciative comments. Dimensions: 2.1 ltr 19.5 cm high to spout / 3.5 pts 7.75 ins high to spout
