Mug c1840
John Meir & Son. This mug features Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe (as printed underneath). It has a little light crazing with some light staining inside. A few minor signs of wear to the foot which impinges just a fraction on the main body of the mug. Usual Northern Series blue printed backstamp.

Lunch Plate Loch Lomond c1840
Made by John Meir & Sons of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall. Their Northern Scenery series of Scottish views are based on engravings in William Beattie's "Scotland: Illustrated in a Series of Views Taken Expressly for this Work by Messrs Allom, W H Bartlett and H McCullock" published in two volumes in 1838. Depicted on this plate is Loch Lomond. It is clearly early and in lovely condition with just a few minor nicks to the foot rim. The face is bright and clean. Usual blue printed backstamp of garter supported by lion and unicorn, with pattern name in garter, J M & S in ribbon below and Loch Lomond in script beneath.
