| Maker: May Pattern:Fountain Meat Dish or Platter c1830 Pieces in this pattern have been found impressed MAY for Robert May of Charles Street Works, Hanley Staffordshire active 1829 to 1830, when his business was bought by Ridgway. Looking at the fine quality of this platter with its moulded rim and variation on the standard border, one wonders if this was in fact made by Ridgway after the acquisition. The pattern is sometimes called Bird Fountain, but Fountain was the factory name. A superb highly decorative platter.
