Jug or Pitcher Hot Water c1920s
This is a most unusual piece. A Masons famous hydra jug - octagonal with serpent handle - with a fixed pewter cover. The jug itself is in excellent condition. The lid shows a few minor signs of wear and there is part of the fixed rim missing - sounds drastic but this is to the right of the handle and not particularly disfiguring.

Fabulous small octagonal jug with hydra handle.
Backstamp: Masons and impressed Patent Ironstone China.
There are a couple of minor firing faults, a little grit in the glaze around the handle base and two small blemishes under the glaze. The only real signs of age are a little wear to the rim, tip of the handle and underneath.

A dramatic variation on Masons normal Dragon pattern, with two fierce Dragons printed in dark blue within a prunus and cracked ice border.

Ewer c1845
A fantastic octagonal ewer with a wonderful dragon handle. Once with burnished gilt to the rim and the handle but this is now worn. Light all over crazing with some light associated discolouration, and there is a small mark on the Dragons chest where the ewer touched another in the kiln. It also has a small chip under the foot. As usual sounds worse than it looks, this is a really lovely and unusual ewer.

An impressive large octagonal ewer with hydra handle.

Light all over crazing and a few manufacturing stress faults by the handle join, to the inside rim and underneath to the foot. Overall an impressive piece which shines like new.
