| Maker: Lakin Pattern:Classical Ruins Meat Dish or Platter small c1815 This is a gorgeous pierced rim small platter. The pattern depicts a goatherd leading his goat past the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, Rome, which is another name for this pattern, as is simply Goatherd.
No backstamp, but we have attributed this to Thomas Lakin of Stoke active 1810 to 1817, as the design detail matches marked examples by Lakin.
It is crazed with some light discolouration although this is mainly on the back. There are a couple of small hairlines and a small minor chip to the pierced rim and some wear to the outer rim. As usual sounds much worse than it looks, this is a lovely little platter. Dimensions: 23 cm x 18 cm / 9 ins x 7 ins

The glaze is finely crazed, but this is a bright and clean plate. Lovely example. Dimensions: 21 cm / 8.25 ins
