Meat Dish or Platter Battle of Waterloo c1827
Jones & Son of Hanley were only in business from 1826 to 1828, yet are famous for producing a fine series of blue printed scenes in a series called British History. A dramatic border of crowns, bishop's mitres, implements of war and flowers frames the central scene of the Battle of Waterloo. Backstamp: typical blue printed large cartouche with British History, Battle of Waterloo and Jones & Son. The glaze is finely crazed, with one small area of very light associated staining, which is barely noticeable. Under the rim a couple of tiny flakes of glaze missing. Overall bright and clean with few signs of use. A magnificent platter with fine battlefield scene of a major moment in British history.
