Maker: Herculaneum  Pattern:Dragon
Coffee Can c1810
Attributed to Herculaneum this porcelain coffee can has their white oily glaze and is similar to the can in Plate 283 Compendium of British Cups by Berthoud, which is attributed to Herculaneum, although doubt is cast on this in the Introduction! Whoever the maker, this is a quality can with signs of wear to the ochre rim and signs of use internally. Underneath there is a possible short craze or "fracture" line in the glaze, but not in the body. Overall a bright and clean early example. The pattern name is also an attributed one.
