| Maker: Henshall Pattern:Fruit and Flower Border Series Soup Plate Vale House c1825 The maker is usually known as Henshall & Co. of Longport, Burslem active 1792 to 1830, although the partnerships were more complex than that and fuller details are available on request.
The Fruit and Flower Border Series is of various English and European Scenes and here it is Vale House. The source print and location are not known, although Vale Lodge near Leatherhead, Surrey has been tentatively suggested. It is a charming scene of a travelling packman displaying his wares to a lady and her two children, whilst a small dog barks at her feet and two turkeys look on! All before a timbered and gabled country house.
A few signs of wear and crazing lines in the glaze, but really lovely condition.
Blue printed floral cartouche with Vale House and impressed date cypher for June 1825.
Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC 1/1. Dimensions: 24.5 cm / 9.5 ins
