| Maker: Harvey Pattern:Birds and Flowers Dessert Serving Dish c1825 Originally one of the components of a grand dessert service this attractive two handled serving dish has a shallow foot rim. Items in this design have been recorded marked with HARVEY impressed, although there is no maker's backstamp on this dish. There was a sequence of various Harvey partnerships at Longton, Staffordshire and this piece dates from the C & J Harvey period 1818-1827. Strong cobalt glaze giving overall a slightly grey look, with the design printed in vibrant blues. Glaze is finely crazed and has taken up a little light staining. There are general signs of use and wear plus a couple of tiny under rim nicks with flakes off the foot rim. Overall bright and clean and look fine on display. Items in this design have been recorded marked with HARVEY impressed, although there is no maker's backstamp on either piece. There was a sequence of various Harvey partnerships at Longton, Staffordshire and this piece dates from the C & J Harvey period 1818-1827. Strong cobalt glaze giving overall a slightly grey look, with the design printed in vibrant blues. The glaze is finely crazed on both pieces. There is a small under-rim chip on the stand and a chip on the rim of the basket, with another under the rim and a third inside the foot rim, otherwise both in excellent condition.
