Toilet Box c1840
A charming toilet box with ornate finial to the cover. Attributed to John Mare Godwin of Cobridge active around 1840/1. He is recorded in 1842 in partnership with his brother James and this partnership ended 1844. It appears he had previously traded in his sole name. This may be the Cascade pattern that was included in the list of copper plates at the auction sale in 1829 of the effects of Burnell, Brindley & Co. Backstamp: blue printed cartouche Cascade JMG, plus impressed Stone China? A touch of crazing and a little minor wear to the finial otherwise excellent condition.
