Made by Davies Cockson & Wilson of the Stepney Pottery, Newcastle upon Tyne, active 1822 to 1829. The partnership is sometimes referred to as Davies Cookson & Wilson in error. A lovely floral border surrounds the idyllic rustic scene on this plate. Backstamp: Impressed circular Davies Cockson & Wilson with number 2 in the middle. A little surface scratching with wear to the inner rim and a little minor discolouration to the outer rim. On the back a very small chip under the rim. Sounds much worse than it actually looks, this is a lovely plate.
