Soup Tureen c1840
A stunning large tureen with ornate handles. Gorgeous floral border decorated the foot and rim of the lid. Backstamp: Davenport and impressed Davenport above anchor. The lid is crazed with just a little minor discolouration and there is a small firing fault to the rim. The tureen has a little minor discolouration inside, a small rub on the side just below the parasol, a firing fault where the foot joins the tureen and underneath a small chip to the foot. The lid is a slightly darker blue than the tureen. Oh dear this sounds absolutely awful! In reality it is an impressive and attractive display piece.

Chinese Pastime is a series of different views, depicting various pastimes and here it is fishing. This example is printed in black, although green is more common and blue relatively uncommon. Superb condition. Black printed Davenport with fancy cartouche containing pattern name, plus impressed Davenport over anchor.
