Maker: Davenport  Pattern:British Scenery
Plate c1860
Original version of what was later a popular Booths pattern. Backstamp: British Scenery Davenport and impressed Davenport above a crown. Crazed with some discolouration, but this is mainly on the back. Overall a delightful plate.
Dimensions: 22 cm / 8.75 ins
Maker: Davenport  Pattern:British Scenery
Plate Cabinet with pierced rim c1880
The rural scene on this plate is from Davenports British Scenery series. However, the plate is white porcelain, has moulded border and gilt line decoration to the rim. It was clearly intended for display rather than use. One has the Davenport printed mark in use from 1870 to 1887 and the pattern number 1907. The other has just the pattern number 1907. One or two nibbles on the back of the rim, but bright and clean plates.
Dimensions: 23 cm / 9 ins
Maker: Davenport  Pattern:British Scenery
Ewer c1881
A bold ewer, originally part of a toilet set, in near perfect condition. The potting is quite chunky, but good lines and proportions. The pattern is well printed in a true blue, rather than the steely shade sometimes seen, and the same scene appears both sides. Both inside and outside the neck is the border design of heads of corn and grape vines. There is a minor rub to the glaze on the neck rim, a small chip under the foot rim and there has been a slight knock to the foot rim, otherwise it is as bright and clean as the day it made. A stunning display piece. Blue printed backstamp British Scenery over Davenport, impressed Wm Davenport, Longport and impressed date mark for June 1881.
Dimensions: 4.2 ltr 31.5 cm high / 7 pints 12.5 ins high
Maker: Davenport  Pattern:British Scenery lilac
Comport c1860
Printed in a pretty shade of lilac or lavender. A lovely rural scene surrounded by a very pretty floral border. Light all over crazing with just a hint of discolouration here and there. Under the dish there is a small area where the glaze has flaked off. No makers marks just printed backstamp of British Scenery, we believe however this to be by Davenport.
