Maker: Cormie  Pattern:Oriental Pheasant colour
Meat Dish or Platter c1830
At first sight this is a Mason's piece, certainly the quality is good and it is one of their well-known patterns. However, the back tells another story and we have attributed this small platter to John Cormie of Burslem active 1818 to 1834/6, although there is a chance that it was made by one of the Hackwood partnerships. A most attractive platter, with the design blue printed under the glaze and then hand applied colour. Backstamp: blue printed floral cartouche with urn and the words Ironstone China. A little minor wear, mainly on the back otherwise excellent condition.
Dimensions: 28 cm x 21 cm / 11 ins x 8.25 ins
