Ewer c1820
A really lovely shape of ewer with a bold pattern of ruins and figures beside a fountain. No backstamp but attributed to John Carey & Sons of Lane End, Staffordshire. There is a little wear and a small nick to the rim, a couple of tiny unglazed spots to the body and underneath a little wear, overall excellent condition.

Soup Tureen Stand c1825
Fabulous piece with quite deeply canted sides. the main figures in the scene appear to be collecting water, possible washerwomen. No backstamp, but examples of this pattern have been found marked Carey & Sons for John Carey & Sons of Lane Delph and Longton, active 1818-1828, after which the sons Thomas & John continued in partnership until 1842 and also found with blue printed octagonal frame containing the words Ancient Rome. Crazed with some associated discolouration and there is a tiny hole through the glaze in the sky to the right of the central arch.

Sauce Ladle c1820
Delightful small ladle with pattern inside the bowl and along the stem. Backstamp: Ancient Rome. There is a little wear to the rim of the bowl and on the underside of the stem and bowl there is a little minor brown mottling and roughness to the glaze otherwise it is in excellent condition.

Mug c1825
Unusual mug, small size, with spiral fluting to the body. Decorated with Ancient Rome design and attributed to John Carey & Sons of Lane End, Staffordshire, active 1818-1828. After John died in 1828 the sons continued trading as Thomas & John Carey until 1842. Some light rubbing to rim and foot rim. A bright, clean mug and a rare survival in this lovely condition.

Fabulous border surrounds the complex scene of pillars and arches and figures around a fountain. Backstamp: Ancient Rome. Light all over crazing with just a hint of very minor discolouration, overall excellent condition.

Dinner Plate c1820
Examples of this pattern have been found marked Carey & Sons for John Carey & Sons of Lane Delph and Longton, active 1818-1828, after which the sons Thomas & John continued in partnership until 1842. Backstamp: blue printed octagonal frame containing the words Ancient Rome. Paper sticker for the Morley College Ceramic Circle Exhibition in 1974, when this plate was exhibit No. 5. The glaze is finely crazed and a little wear to rim and foot rim, but really minor, as this is a lovely example.

Wonderful classical scene on this rimmed soup plate. Backstamp: Ancient Rome. Light crazing with just a little wear to the inner and outer rims and on the back. Overall a lovely example of this pattern.
