| Maker: Brameld Pattern:Boys Fishing Mug c1825 Made by Brameld at the Rockingham Works, Swinton, Yorkshire and decorated with their delighful Boys Fishing pattern, which is well-engraved and printed in dark and paler blues offering a good sense of perspective. This is a large mug and the strap handle has printed decoration and their is border pattern within the rim. It is absolutely magnificent and one of the finest mugs to survive today.
No maker's backstamp, as is common with mugs.
The glaze is finely crazed, which has taken up a little associated staining inside and there is a little wear to the rim. There is a possible faint hairline running horizontally beneath the handle, but the mug rings as sound as a bell. On the base there is a small glaze fault or flake missing. Having said all that this is in beautiful condition for its age. A real show stopper and if you like rustic charm it is not quite perfectly round! Dimensions: 12 cm high 11 cm diameter / 4.75 ins high 4.5 ins diameter
