Maker: Bourne Baker and Bourne  Pattern:British Cattle
Soup Tureen c1830
This pattern has been found marked BB&B for either Bourne, Baker and Bourne or possibly their sucessors Bourne, Baker and Baker of Fenton Staffordshire. They were brothers and brother-in-law. The British Cattle design is beautifully engraved and printed and depicts the rural scene with a quality akin to a fine oil painting or watercolour. No maker's backstamp. A few signs of use, but the glaze is mainly sound, with a little crazing in places, mainly underneath the tureen, where some lines have come together to look like a star crack, but this is in the glaze only. A small glazing blemish inside the tureen and some browning to the glaze especially on the plain white of the side handles, which you sometimes get with old glaze.
