Maker: Barlow  Pattern:Chinese Juvenile Sports
Plate c1840
An absolutely gorgeous plate printed in a soft blue. This pattern is usually attributed to Thomas Barlow of Market Street Works, Longton, Staffordshire active 1849 to 1882, but as this from the impressed B, it should not be considered definitive. Backstamp: Chinese Juvenile Sports B. Some surface scratching with a touch of light crazing and a little wear to the rim which in one small spot has resulted in a little loss of glaze. To the face of the plate at approximately 7 o'clock there is a manufacturing fault which also has a little loss of glaze. Oh dear, this sounds awful but remains a lovely plate.
