Maker: Ashworth  Pattern:India red with colour
Dinner Plate c1860s
This pattern is normally known by the name India, but whether that was the factory name for it or a later given name is uncertain. It is a Chinoiserie riverscape printed in a mulberry red, but mostly hand painted in the most gorgeous colours, mainly red and cobalt, with yellow highlights. This is an old Masons design, here produced by their successors Ashworths and it features in Godden's Guide to Ironstone, Stone & Granite Wares Printed backstamp crown over Real Iron-Stone China and script pattern number 143. Superb condition.
Dimensions: 26 cm / 10.25 ins
