| Maker: Adams Pattern:Lions Meat Dish or Platter c1815 This small platter or stand for a sauce tureen was made by Adams at Greengates, Tunstall and the design is based on a print "Felix Leo - Lion, Lioness and Young" engraved by J Scott after an original by S Edwards, published in 1807. It was republished in Vol. V of The Cyclopedia of Arts Science and Literature published in 1820.
A rare and desirable design, which is strongly collected today.
This small platter has some rubbing to the outer and inner rims and there is a hairline crack running in from the rim for 4.25ins from 7 o'clock. This has taken up a little light staining, which might respond to cleaning and restoration. There is no backstamp, but definitely Adams. Dimensions: 19 cm x 16 cm / 7.5 ins x 6.25 ins
