Stand c1910
Delightful shape of stand with a wonderfully comical scene to the centre. A stand for a sauce boat and tureen, but would make an attractive butter dish. We have attributed this stand to Adams, although it is not marked as such. It is a reproduction of an earlier Clews series. The border pattern on the Adams' version has minor variations from the Clews. Interestingly this stand is a Clews shape.
Backstamp: blue printed rectangle with shell decoration "Doctor Syntax copying the wit of the window".
Some crazing to the glaze, otherwise excellent condition.
